Sometimes my family comes with me when I’m shooting an outdoor session on the weekend to have a play and explore while I’m off shooting. The other day we were lucky enough to still have a tiny sliver of light left after my session had wrapped up and I took the opportunity to capture these two and their wrestling games.
Being in front of the lens instead of behind it for my maternity pictures has taught me so much! First of all: Wow, it is incredibly hard putting yourself out there, heavily pregnant with swollen ankles, sore hips and back and a body that feels a bit foreign and is impossible to move around with in any sort of graceful way.
The toddler’s idea of ultimate fun: Splashing in the luke-warm shallow water and playing with mud on a hot summer afternoon!
In July this year, my Baby visited her second home for the first time: Munich in Germany. We stayed there from mid July to September during what would later be remembered as a “record summer” – the hottest and sunniest summer since who knows when. I can’t say I’m surprised. My Australian beach baby brings the sunshine with her to wherever she travels ;).
A couple of weeks ago we got to spend a night in one of Pier One’s suites including an igloo on the veranda.
And I’m cheating! These photos are from when our girl was 7.5 months old and she’s been 9 months for a couple of weeks now too. Where did all the time gooo???
Life can be challenging with a newborn baby, but it can also be a wonderful learning experience for new mums. I love making lists, so here is a thing or two that my baby who is now 8 weeks old has taught me – so far:
